Thanks to Ben Zimmer of LanguageLog for introducing me to Gil Scott-Heron by way of this video and iz-infixation at 6:28. I listened to the whole thing, and this one is all good humor from the 70s, and then I listened to some music and what must be the early days of rap, things like “Inner City Blues”. Recommended.
Update: The Revolution will not be Televised — somehow I had heard of it, but hadn’t heard it. Yep, recommended!
